On this Bandcamp Friday Zacarocha presents a new EP called ‘Barbelote’, a collection of 6 tracks where the Lisbon-based producer and head of Lost Thumb Records pays homage to his hometown of Monchique, in Southern Portugal.

As 2020 took its toll on all of us Zacarocha embarked on a period of self-reflection, which sent him in search of the feelings of peace that the renowned natural beauty of the Monchique mountain range gave him as he grew up. Magical places like the Barbelote waterfall in the Fóia mountain - a real-life equivalent to the Kodama forest in Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke - provided him with the tranquility and inspiration he was looking for, translating these feelings into 6 tracks where techno, breakbeats and dub ambiances provide a starting point for Zacarocha’s freeform and far-reaching electronic explorations.
